Kathryn Ashton-Alcox

   Kathy has twenty years of experience in various laboratory and field projects spanning a variety of disciplines within the aquatic sciences. These include marine biology and ecology, aquaculture, cellular, and molecular biology. She has worked in many different regions including the East coast estuaries and canyons, the Great Lakes, Antarctica, and the Caribbean. Kathy is particularly skilled in flow cytometry and cell sorting, with experience in a variety of molecular techniques including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). In addition to her skill with laboratory techniques, Kathy is also experienced as a laboratory manager and supervisor. Kathy has a reading knowledge of French, is skilled in darkroom techniques, and is SCUBA certified.
